Zoom Phone SMS allows you to send and receive text messages (SMS) using the Zoom desktop client or mobile app. You can also use SMS with a call queue or auto receptionist.
This article goes over the various message and conversation options like saving a message or deleting a conversation.
How to use SMS message options
- Sign in to the Zoom desktop client or mobile app.
- Click or tap the Phone tab.
- Click or tap the SMS tab.
- Click or tap an SMS conversation.
- Follow one of the below sections:
Desktop client
Hover over an SMS message and click the ellipses button (...) for these options.
- Save as: Save the image file to your local device.
- Open File Location: Open the original location of the image file on your local device.
- Copy: Copy the message text to your clipboard.
- Delete: Remove the message for you. The other SMS participant will still be able to see the message.
Note: If the SMS conversations is associated with a call queue or auto receptionist, the other SMS participant will still be able to see the message, but the message will be deleted for all call queue or auto receptionist members.
Mobile app
On the mobile app, tap and hold an SMS message to access these options.
- Save Image: Save the image file to your local device.
- Copy: Copy the message text to your clipboard.
- Delete: Remove the message for you. The other SMS participant will still be able to see the message.
How to use SMS conversation options
Note: If the caller hid their caller ID, you can only delete the conversation.
Desktop client
Hover over an SMS conversation below the SMS tab and click the ellipses button (...) for these options.
- Meet with Video / Meet without Video / Chat (these options are only visible if the phone number belongs to an internal or external Zoom contact): Start an instant meeting or 1-on-1 chat with the contact.
Note: This option is not available for SMS conversations associated with call queues or auto receptionists. - Create Google Contact / Create Outlook Contact (only visible if you enabled contacts integration): Create a new Google or Outlook contact using the call history entry. The new contact will appear in the Contacts tab. Access the contact in Google or Outlook if you need to further edit contact details.
- Add to Google Contact / Add to Outlook Contact (only visible if you enabled contacts integration): Add the associated phone number to an existing synced contact. Access the contact in Google or Outlook if you need to further edit contact details.
- Block Number: Add the phone number to your blocked list.
- Push Notifications: Enable or disable push notifications for the conversation.
- Delete Conversation: Remove the SMS conversation and delete all messages in the conversation. The other SMS participant will still be able to see the conversation.
Click the info icon in top-right corner to access these options:
- Members: Displays the phone numbers involved in the SMS conversation.
- Auto Receptionist Info / Call Queue Info (only visible if the SMS conversations is associated with a call queue or auto receptionist): Displays the name, extension number, and direct number of the call queue or auto receptionist.
- Push Notifications: Enable or disable push notifications for the conversation.
- Images: Displays images in the conversation.
- Files: This section is currently not used. You can only send images using Zoom Phone SMS.
- More Options
- Block Number: Add the phone number to your blocked list.
Mobile app
Tap and hold an SMS conversation below the SMS tab to access these options.
- Phone Call: Call the associated phone number.
- Create Phone Contact: Create a new phone contact and add the number to the new contact. This option is not available for synced contacts.
- Add to Existing Phone Contact: Add the number to an existing contact in your phone's contacts directory. This option is not available for synced contacts.
- Block Number: Add the phone number to your blocked list.
- Delete Conversation: Remove the SMS conversation and delete all messages in the conversation. The other SMS participant will still be able to see the conversation.
Tap an SMS conversation then click the info icon in top-right corner to access these options:
- Two phone numbers at the top: Displays the phone numbers involved in the SMS conversation.
- Images: Displays images in the conversation.
