You can update your page size and margins, change your page orientation, and add a watermark to your Google Doc.
Change page setup of a Google Doc
- On your computer, open a document in Google Docs.
- In the toolbar, click File Page setup.
- Go to the setting you want to change:
- Orientation
- Paper size
- Page color
- Margins
- Make your changes.
- Click OK.
Optional: To make new documents open with the settings you chose, click Set as default.
Mix page orientations in a single Google Doc
A single document can include a mix of portrait and landscape layouts, to better fit wider tables, charts and graphics.
Change the orientation of a selection
- On your computer, open a document in Google Docs.
- Highlight the text or image that you want to change the orientation Right click on the text or image.
- Select Change page to landscape or Change page to portrait.
Change the orientation of a section or multiple sections
- On your computer, open a document in Google Docs.
- Click where you want to create multiple sections.
- Go to Insert Break Section break.
- To change the orientation of a section, click File Page setup or Format Page orientation.
- Set “Apply to” to “This section” if you would like to apply the page orientation to the selected section only. Use “This section forward” if you would like to apply the page orientation to this and all subsequent sections.
- Select the orientation to apply.
- Click OK
Tips:
- To show where section breaks are in your document, click View Show section breaks.
- To show page outlines, click View Print layout.
- You can also change the orientation for the entire document. Click File Page setup Apply to: Whole document.
Add a watermark
On your computer, open a document in Google Docs.
- Go to Insert Watermark.
- Click Select image .
- Select an image from:
- Drive
- Photos
- The web
- A URL
- Your camera
- An upload from your computer
- Optional: In the panel on the right, change the format of the watermark.
- Click Done.
For more ways to edit your watermark:
- Right-click the watermark.
- Click Select watermark.
- In the toolbar, select Image options.
