Many different kinds of documents can be added to a knowledge Base Article.

The type of document you are adding will change how the reader interacts with it.

There are two main ways that articles will share documents with readers.

  1. Embedded
  2. Attached

JPEG images and links to videos can be embedded straight into a knowledge base article so that a user can see them while reading the article without opening a link or attachment. Embedded content appears as part of a post and supplies a visual element. For instance, the follow image is embedded:

To imbed an image into a knowledge base article, you can simple copy and paste it into the unpublished article, or use the Image attachment tool at the top of the article's window.

Either of these methods will embed your image.

Documents like PDFs cannot be embedded into a Knowledge Base article and instead must be attached. To attached a PDF, simply click on the attachment tool in the unpublished Knowledge Base article.

Anything added to the Knowledge Base article using this method will show up in the published article at the bottom of the page, in the form of a button that can be clicked on to show the attached document.
